Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day, an event that was first observed in 1970 and now encompasses over 190 countries around the globe. Muscle Powered will be doing its part to help make Carson City, and in turn the world, a better place by holding a Trash Mob on Earth Day.
What are Trash Mobs, you ask? Trash Mobs are a grassroots community effort coordinated by Muscle Powered volunteers to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of littler. The monthly, one-hour events take place at various locations around town that are in need of cleaning. Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging, or cycling.
This Saturday, April 22nd, at 8:00 am volunteers will meet at the Freeway Multi-Use Path located just off of East College Parkway at the I-580 on-ramp. The fence that borders the path is a trash collector during high winds and the Trash Mob will spend the hour removing the litter from this area. Park your vehicles between Dotty’s Casino and US Bank just north of the Walmart parking lot. For a Google Map of the meetup location go to: https://tinyurl.com/l7qc49g. Muscle Powered will supply the trash bags, work gloves and trash “pickers”.
Everyone is encouraged to support Muscle Powered’s Earth Day Trash Mob. Volunteer efforts go towards making Carson City and our planet a better place to walk and bike.
