Ash to Kings Trail Map

In a cooperative effort with Carson City and the U.S. Forest Service, Muscle Powered is constructing the Kings Canyon to Ash Canyon non-motorized multi-use mountain bike trail.  The trail will be seven miles long and will connect the Ash Canyon trail system to Kings Canyon Road (Lincoln Hwy) and the Longview Trail. Though the trail is designed for mountain bikes, it will be suitable for runners, hikers and equestrians.

If you would like to get involved in the construction of the Kings to Ash Cyn trail please contact Jeff Potter at

Construction began on July 1st, 2012. Estimated completion date is late fall 2014.

On March 18th 2011 Muscle Powered was awarded $5,000 Community Services Grant for the purchase of trail construction tools and bridge materials for the Ash Creek bridge crossing.

In 2012 Great Basin Institute was awarded a $159,000 Recreational Trails Grant to construct trail on the USFS portion of the alignment.

In 2013 Muscle Powered was awarded top honors in the Rec Trails program for the purchase of tools.

  1. Is a map available for the proposed trail?

It would also be nice to include volunteer dates for trail building. I’ve heard one is coming up on Sept 30th, 2014.
